Log files are updated each
time any ServerBoss authentication tool
executes. The log files are stored in the
ServerBoss folder on the ServerBoss Server by
default. Logonchk.exe and SBAppChk.exe log files
can be viewed from within ServerBoss.exe under
the Monitor menu.
The location of the log files is fully
customizable by going to Manage->Log File
Settings in Serverboss.exe. If you wish to use
the default ServerBoss log file location for a
log file then leave its path box blank. If you
do not wish to log a certain type of checking
then uncheck the box next to it. If you wish to
customize the location of a log file, simply
type in the path you wish to use. The filename
of the log file is not customizable. The path is
relative to the machine the authorization tool
is running on, so be sure to use UNC network
paths to write logs to another computer. If you
enter an invalid path you will not receive an
error and the event will not be logged. You can
also set the maximum file size in kilobytes that
you will allow for each log file.
The log files are created automatically the
first time the program is run. The log files
generally show more detailed information when
you use the Debug mode option available in
ServerBoss.exe under Manage->System Options.
These log files are useful for a number of
purposes. Besides reporting success and
failures, you can get quantitative measurements
of how long it takes to authorize your users and
groups. To get accurate time results, be sure to
set your timeout values to zero in
ServerBoss.exe under Manage->Customize Messages
and disable Debug Mode under System Options.
NOTE: When
the size limit (if defined, 0 = unlimited KB
size) for a log file is reached the log will be
deleted and new log will be created starting
with the first line of column names.
NOTE: All
ServerBoss users must have change access to the
log files. If you set a maximum file size or the
log files have not yet been created, your users
must have change access to the directory and
share where the log files are to be written so
log files can be deleted and created in the
context of the logged in user account. |
