LAN Workstation Checking

Overview
SBLanChk.exe - This is the LAN Workstation logon authorization program. To invoke this program, add it to your NT logon script. For a discussion on using this program read the LAN Workstation Checking Installation section. Specify the NT logon script in the users’ profile if you want only certain users to be authorized. SBLanChk.exe will run on all 32-bit Windows workstations.

NOTE: Users are authorized in the following order:

  1. User restrictions (counts user sessions on all licensed workstations)
  2. Group restrictions (counts group sessions on all licensed workstations)

LAN Authorization
LAN Workstation authorization authorizes logons to workstations by maintaining a proprietary high-speed database of who has logged on to what workstations. All that is needed is adding SBLanChk.exe to the logon script and there is no workstation installation or configuration necessary. SBLanChk.exe is run at logon, usually added to the NT logon script. This lets ServerBoss know that someone is logging on to a workstation. ServerBoss then consults its database and decides if the user is authorized to log into the workstation. Upon successful logon, SBListener.exe is launched and stays resident in memory to update the system when the user decides to log off from or to shutdown the workstation.

This feature set can be used with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP or higher workstations. This is the only feature set that is licensed per workstation. The base license comes with 10 workstation licenses. No other server licenses required.
