Terminal Services Checking

Overview
The program Logonchk.exe is the logon authorization program. There are two recommended ways to invoke this program, automatically on NT, 2000 and XP based machines as setup by SBSetup.exe and manually, usually as part of a logon script. Even though you would typically launch and run Logonchk.exe only at logon via the NT logon script or other startup script, you can run it at any time. For example, you could run it in a batch file whenever you need to check logons before allowing the user to proceed. Specify the NT logon script in the users’ profile if you want only certain users to be authorized. Logonchk.exe will run on all 32-bit Windows.

NOTE:
Users are authorized in the following order:

  1. Total sessions for this server
  2. IP address restrictions (Citrix and Terminal Services only)
  3. User restrictions (counts user sessions on all managed servers)
  4. Group restrictions (counts group sessions on all managed servers)

Terminal Server Authorization

All ServerBoss tools are supported on Windows NT 4 Terminal Server Edition, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 Data Center, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2003 Server Enterprise.

Terminal Server Checking authorization provides the ability to restrict RDP sessions using ServerBoss tools on Windows terminal servers. This Feature Set uses the MS terminal server API in addition to NT APIs to provide the best level of performance and stability on all Microsoft terminal services server platforms. No client-side configuration or software installation is required for Terminal Server authorization.

NOTE: LAN Server Checking and LAN Workstation Checking are not required for the Terminal Server Checking feature set, even when clients are on the same LAN.
