Introduction - SF2DB was written to address the need for accurate and detailed reporting on all email log activity created by Logsat's SpamFilter ISP * SMTP program. Other log reporting is generic and provides only cursory information. SF2DB provides a detailed report on EVERY important email message processed and logged by Logsat's SpamFilter ISP * program. By compiling log information into detailed data, a wealth of information is available including statistics, complete analysis and database formatted auditing information. A multitude of flexible queries and reports can be designed from the data that SF2DB creates.
Requirements - Windows 2000, XP or 2003 with 16 MB RAM available for SF2DB; recommend minimum 512MB total minimum system RAM. Intel Pentium 4 1.7 GHz or greater processor is recommend although any Intel Pentium will work. Microsoft Data Access Components version 2.7 or greater 2.8SP1 (preferably) and Microsoft JET 4.0 SP8 or greater depending on which data access method you want to use. The data access components and JET installations are included in the download package. SpamFilter ISP version 2.x.x or greater. ODBC compliant database compatible with MS Access or MS SQL Server databases.
Accuracy -
SF2DB is a highly sophisticated set of algorithms that combines varying numbers of log file entries for an email message into a single row of data stored in a database. This program has been evolving for over three years. It is extremely accurate, however, it's accuracy is not guaranteed in any way. SpamFilter software is being changed and updated on a regular basis and each version of SF2DB is tested against only the latest version of SpamFilter log files. Errors can be caused by backup programs locking SF2DB from file access it needs, hard drives can run out of space, operating systems can malfunction and hardware glitches can occur all causing undesirable results. It is critical that you monitor your data for consistency and to pin point issues that could come up. Report all problems, bugs, errors you can't resolve as well as your suggestions to matt@idp.net.
Reporting - You create your own queries and reports using your favorite database query and reporting tools. If you are interested, please let us know as we have and may offer separately add-on Web based and/or Windows based Report Generators.
